Hudson County Officials Approve $300K in State Funds to Fight Inurance Fraud

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ - The Hudson County Board of Commissioners has accepted $300,000 in state funds to support efforts by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office to fight insurance fraud.
The grant, awarded by the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, will aid the Prosecutor's Insurance Fraud Unit, which investigates and prosecutes various types of insurance related crimes including:
* False claims of property loss to an insurance company
* Falsified motor vehicle insurance cards
* Arson for profit
* Health care claims Fraud
* Staged motor vehicle accidents
* False workers' compensation claims
Derived from assessments imposed on the insurance industry and collected by the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, the grant offsets the salary of an assistant prosecutor supervising the unit, as well as the Unit's investigative staff.
