Groups Call on Senate to Protect Patients in Health Care Debate
Eight prominent patient, provider and consumer advocate groups announced today they are joining forces to host a series of events in states across the country to highlight the need to protect patient access to affordable and adequate care as the health debate continues in
To start, the groups plan to host events in
"Health care remains a deeply personal concern for American families, and together, we must seek solutions that help make health care more affordable," said
"Access to adequate, affordable health coverage is a key determinant in surviving cancer," said ACS CAN President
"People with diabetes need ongoing care to manage their disease and avoid complications," said
"With nearly half of Americans likely to develop pre-existing heart and stroke conditions in the next 20 years, access to reasonably priced, quality health care must be protected," said
"As the backbone of America's health safety-net, hospitals and health systems must protect access to care for those who need it and ensure that the most vulnerable, including children, the elderly, the disabled, and those with pre-existing conditions, are not left behind," said AHA President and CEO
"Improving the health of our nation means increasing access to high-quality, affordable health insurance coverage, which is why the reduction of coverage in the American Health Care Act is of grave concern," said AMA President elect

The groups have also put together a fact sheet about the impact the House-passed health care bill would have on Americans that can be found below. State-by-state data and reports on public health implications will be discussed at each of the upcoming events.
