Targeted News Service (Press Releases)
MONTPELIER, Vt., Nov. 30 -- Gov. Peter Shumlin, D-Vt., issued the following news release:
Yesterday, Republican House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy doubled down on his party's plan to repeal Obamacare and said he is seeking advice from governors around America about how to replace the law. Today, Gov. Peter Shumlin wasted no time in offering his thoughts in the following letter sent to McCarthy.
Dear Majority Leader McCarthy,
Thanks to Obamacare, 25,000 Vermonters who didn't have health insurance now do, over 20,000 Vermonters are receiving financial help to make insurance more affordable, and our state's uninsured rate has been driven down to 2.7 percent. If you can come up with a plan that ensures all those things remain true, let's talk. Until then, I beg you to keep your hands off our Obamacare.
