FreedomWorks Issues Statement on Congressional Bailout Deal on ObamaCare
Targeted News Service
WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 -- FreedomWorks issued the following statement by Vice President of Legislative Affairs Jason Pye about the capitulation to Democrats by Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn.:
"Sen. Alexander is not the ideal lead for this effort. He told us before that he wanted to repeal ObamaCare, but he went back on his word and reversed his support for the 2015 bill when it was within reach.
"We oppose his deal with Sen. Murray. This is a bailout for health insurance companies. The proposed waivers go through Health and Human Services. While we expect the current administration to view these requests favorably, the next administration could be less amenable.
"Republicans will be betraying the principles they preach on the campaign trail if they vote to bailout the insurance companies. It is cronyism, and FreedomWorks opposes cronyism and senators' votes that support it."
