PUBLIC NOTICE The Stafford County Department of Development Services, in accordance with National Flood Insurance Program regulation 65.7(b)(1), hereby gives notice of the County's intent to revise the floodway, base flood elevations, and flood hazard information, generally located between Berea Knolls Drive and Thressa Garden Place. The flood hazard revisions are being proposed as part of Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR) Case No. 23-03-0389R for a proposed project along Falls Run. Stafford County Department of Capital Projects is proposing to improve Berea Church Road (SR-654), from Truslow Road (SR-652) to Warrenton Road (US Route 17). The proposed project will include paved shoulders on both sides of the roadway, with 11-ft wide lanes, driveway culverts, ditches, proposed curb and gutter, stormwater management facilities, and upgrading the culvert crossing at Falls Run. Once the project has been completed, a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) request should be submitted that will, in part, revise the following flood hazards along Falls Run: 1. The floodway will be revised from 400 linear feet downstream of Berea Church Road to 1900 linear feet upstream of Berea Church Road along Falls Run. The floodway will decrease within the revised area. 2. Base Flood Elevations (BFEs) will increase and decrease along Falls Run. 3. The Special Flood Hazard Area will increase and decrease along Falls Run. Maps and detailed analysis of the revision can be reviewed at the Stafford County Community Development Center at 1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford, Virginia 22554 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm. Interested persons may call Emily Torrey, PE, CFM (Certified Floodplain Manager) of Stafford County at 540-379-6311 or [email protected] for additional information.
