First Horizon Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to Fair Insurance Rates in Monroe to support the research and community outreach concerning FEMA’s newly implemented Risk Rating 2.0 rating structure, as well as the updated flood insurance rate maps for Monroe County.
First Horizon has supported FIRM’s efforts in reviewing the proposed flood maps introduced by FEMA in January 2020. FIRM then partnered with the City of Key West to develop an appeal to those maps. Monroe County and the other municipalities also submitted appeals in the summer of 2021. FEMA is still reviewing those appeals.
FIRM is a non-partisan grassroots organization formed to fight for fair property insurance rates for property owners and residents of Monroe County, Florida. FIRM urges people to donate or sign up for a free membership at http:// www.firmkeys.org to support the
continuation of the fight for fair insurance rates.
