Sep. 11--A fire Tuesday evening destroyed a home in Upper Nazareth Township.
Neighbors said no one was home when the 6:26 p.m. fire started in the rear of the house in the 3300 block of Rising Sun Court.
Online property records list the owner of the home as John Pequeno. Neighbors said Pequeno is the owner of Ideal Concepts Inc. insurance agency in Allentown.
Neighbors said Pequeno and his girlfriend had two dogs, one of which was rescued from the fire and resuscitated. The other dog had not been found as of Tuesday night.
"I saw the smoke from eight miles away," Rising Sun Court resident Bill Kirk said. "It looked like it was in the area of our neighborhood. I was scared it might be my house because I have a 3-year-old."
Kirk raced home to see firefighters battling the flames as neighbors looked on.
"They had just gotten some landscaping done," Kirk said, referring to Pequeno and his girlfriend. "Their yard was the most beautiful one in the neighborhood."
Firefighters were unavailable Tuesday night to say how the fire started. Multiple fire companies responded.
