Federal Reserve Bank Details Findings in COVID-19 (Heterogeneity In Work From Home: Evidence From Six Us Datasets): Coronavirus – COVID-19

CDC & FDA Daily

2026 FEB 27 (NewsRx) -- By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at CDC & FDA Daily -- Current study results on Coronavirus - COVID-19 have been published. According to news reporting out of St. Louis, Missouri, by NewsRx editors, research stated, “This article documents heterogeneity in work from home (WFH) using six nationally representative U.S. surveys. These surveys show consistent patterns indicating that pre-pandemic differences in WFH rates by sex, education, and state of residence expanded following the COVID-19 outbreak.”

Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from Federal Reserve Bank, “The surveys also show similar post-pandemic trends in WFH by firm size and industry. We find that an industry’s WFH potential was highly correlated with actual WFH during the first year or two of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

According to the news editors, the research concluded: “However, this correlation was much weaker before and after, suggesting that WFH potential is a necessary but not sufficient determinant of actual WFH.”

This research has been peer-reviewed.
