FAIR Health Elects Lynn B. Nicholas and Rob Parke to Board of Directors

PR Newswire

NEW YORK, April 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- FAIR Health, Inc., has elected Lynn B. Nicholas, LFACHE, and Rob Parke, FIA, ASA, MAAA, to its Board of Directors. A national, independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing transparency to healthcare costs and health insurance information, FAIR Health is governed by a Board comprising leaders from all parts of the healthcare sector.

Ms. Nicholas has had a career of over 40 years working in and representing hospitals and health systems in New Jersey, Louisiana and Massachusetts, most recently leading the Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association (MHA) as its President and CEO, a position from which she stepped down in November 2017. Throughout her career, Ms. Nicholas has been a strong proponent of public health and wellness and has developed a national reputation for thought leadership on healthcare coverage and payment reform, delivery system transformation, and quality and patient safety. Under her leadership, MHA received numerous recognitions for its work on tobacco use cessation and curbing opioid and substance use disorders. She spearheaded "Behavioral Health—the Unfinished Agenda of Reform" in an effort to improve behavioral health access and quality across the continuum of care. A former American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Regent and Governor, Ms. Nicholas received the Early Careerist and Senior Healthcare Executive Regents awards, and an ACHE Early Careerist Travel Scholarship was established in her honor.

Mr. Parke is a principal and consulting actuary with the New York office of Milliman. With decades of experience, he provides actuarial and consulting services to a broad range of clients, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans, HMOs, commercial insurers, government agencies, and healthcare providers and vendors. His work includes rate development and review, provider contract review and benchmarking, reserve certification, capitation, pay for performance and other incentive plan development, review and assessment of predictive models and disease management programs, and Medicare risk feasibility studies. He has been a leader in working with US insurers, hospitals and physicians to respond to emerging alternative payment models, including bundled payments and Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). Mr. Parke has worked extensively on health insurance and related issues in Western Europe, Canada, the Middle East and Africa.

"We enthusiastically welcome Ms. Nicholas and Mr. Parke to the FAIR Health Board," said Stephen A. Warnke, Chairman of FAIR Health's Board of Directors. "Lynn's experience with hospitals and health systems and Rob's seasoned actuarial perspective will further broaden the diversity of viewpoints represented on the FAIR Health Board."

"FAIR Health is honored to have Ms. Nicholas and Mr. Parke join this esteemed assembly of leaders from throughout the healthcare ecosystem," stated Robin Gelburd, President of FAIR Health. "Their years of service demonstrate deep knowledge of the complexities inherent in the nation's healthcare sector that will make them ideal additions to our Board."

About FAIR Health
FAIR Health is a national, independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing transparency to healthcare costs and health insurance information through data products, consumer resources and health systems research support. FAIR Health possesses the nation's largest collection of private healthcare claims data, which includes over 28 billion claim records contributed by payors and administrators who insure or process claims for private insurance plans covering more than 150 million individuals. FAIR Health licenses its privately billed data and data products—including benchmark modules, data visualizations, custom analytics, episodes of care analytics and market indices—to commercial insurers and self-insurers, employers, providers, hospitals and healthcare systems, government agencies, researchers and others. Certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as a national Qualified Entity, FAIR Health also receives data representing the experience of all individuals enrolled in traditional Medicare Parts A, B and D; FAIR Health houses data on Medicare Advantage enrollees in its private claims data repository. FAIR Health can produce insightful analytic reports and data products based on combined Medicare and commercial claims data for government, providers, payors and other authorized users. FAIR Health has earned HITRUST CSF and Service Organization Controls (SOC 2) certifications by meeting the rigorous data security requirements of these standards. As a testament to the reliability and objectivity of FAIR Health data, the data have been incorporated in statutes and regulations around the country and designated as the official, neutral data source for a variety of state health programs, including workers' compensation and personal injury protection (PIP) programs. FAIR Health data serve as an official reference point in support of certain state balance billing laws that protect consumers against bills for surprise out-of-network and emergency services. FAIR Health also uses its database to power a free consumer website available in English and Spanish and an English/Spanish mobile app, which enable consumers to estimate and plan for their healthcare expenditures and offer a rich educational platform on health insurance. The website has been honored by the White House Summit on Smart Disclosure, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), URAC, the eHealthcare Leadership Awards, appPicker, Employee Benefit News and Kiplinger's Personal Finance. FAIR Health also is named a top resource for patients in Elisabeth Rosenthal's book, An American Sickness: How Healthcare Became Big Business and How You Can Take It Back.
