EDITORIAL: Suggestions for Sen. Graham about the health-care bill

July 12--U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Tuesday that he and other senators are writing a new health-care plan to replace the Affordable Care Act.

We have a few suggestions:

Don't penalize the sick.

Don't force states to decide which eligible people get coverage and which don't.

Don't make it harder for working people to afford coverage.

Don't make this about dismantling President Obama's health-care legacy.

Children aren't political pawns. Protect their interests.

The elderly and low-income children need Medicaid. Remember that.

Seek advice from health-care professionals. Don't cut them out of the process.

If anything hinges on a people-vs.-money decision, side with the people.
