ECTOR COUNTY FELONY DISPOSITIONS Jan. 8, 2018

Jan. 08--The following is a list of felony dispositions from the Ector County District Clerk's Office. Listed attorneys do not necessarily represent who was involved when the case was disposed.

ASSAULT

-- Peggy Jones Maples, 46, was sentenced to 15 years in prison in an order adjudicating guilt Dec. 18 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Judge Denn Whalen approved the deal. Bret Mansur was the defense attorney and Clay George was the prosecutor.

-- Timothy Brian Couch, 28, had two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon dismissed Dec. 22 because he pleaded guilty to the charges in county court. Judge John Smith presided. Tony Chavez was the defense attorney. The prosecuting attorney was not listed.

-- Keith Watson, 46, had charges of assault (family violence) and assault of a family or household member with a previous conviction dismissed Jan. 2 because the victim requested dismissal and it is in the interest of justice. Judge James Rush presided. Mansur was the defense attorney and Lisa Borden was the prosecutor.

-- Jonathan David Freeman, 33, pleaded guilty Jan. 3 to assault (family violence) and was sentenced to two years in prison. Freeman also had charges of credit card or debit card abuse and insurance fraud dismissed. Smith approved the deal. Roy Bell Jr. was the defense attorney and Chris Fostel was the prosecutor.

CREDIT CARD ABUSE

-- Adam Joseph Zontok, 49, pleaded guilty Dec. 7 to credit card abuse and was sentenced to four years probation and deferred adjudication. Smith approved the deal. Mike Holmes was the defense attorney. The prosecuting attorney was not listed.

CRIMINAL NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE

-- Luis Saucedo Lopez, 24, pleaded guilty Dec. 27 to two counts of criminally negligent homicide and was sentenced to five years probation. Judge Stacy Trotter approved the deal. H.W. Leverett Jr. was the defense attorney. The prosecuting attorney was not listed.

DEADLY CONDUCT

-- Tommy Nguyen, 27, was sentenced to five years in prison in an order adjudicating guilt Dec. 21 on charges of deadly conduct and evading arrest. Whalen approved the deal. Julie Prentiss was the defense attorney and George was the prosecutor.

DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED

-- Joe Angel Hernandez, 50, pleaded guilty Nov. 17 to driving while intoxicated, third or more, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Rush approved the deal. Luis Chavez was the defense attorney. The prosecuting attorney was not listed.

-- Joey Albert Chavarria, 48, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to driving while intoxicated, third or more, and had his probation revoked. Chavarria was sentenced to four years in prison. Whalen approved the deal. Prentiss was the defense attorney. The prosecuting attorney was not listed.

POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

-- Rogelio Armendariz Baca, 39, had a charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, dismissed Dec. 22 as part of a plea agreement when he pleaded guilty to charges in another case in county court. Smith presided. Jason Leach was the defense attorney. The prosecuting attorney was not listed.

-- April Luffman, 40, pleaded guilty Jan. 3 to possession of a controlled substance, one gram or more but less than four grams, and was sentenced to two years probation. Trotter approved the deal. Kevin Acker was the defense attorney. The prosecuting attorney was not listed.

THEFT

-- Tony Alvarado Bermea, 45, pleaded guilty Jan. 2 to theft, $1,500 or more but less than $20,000, and was sentenced to two years in state jail. Bermea also had a charge of sexual assault of a child dismissed. Smith approved the deal. Isaiah Jackson was the defense attorney and Dusty Gallivan was the prosecutor.
