Dayton-area company loans airplane to help Ohio relief group reach the Bahamas

Sep. 12--The Connor Group, a Miami Twp. real estate investment company, is helping a Cincinnati-based humanitarian organization get to the Bahamas for disaster relief work.

Matthew 25: Ministries is sending an assessment team and supplies to the Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian, the organization said in a release Wednesday.

The Connor Group is "generously donating transportation for the team and their supplies," the organization said. "This extremely generous donation will enable Matthew 25 to move quickly and efficiently into the disaster area. Partner and Chief Pilot Brett Hunter will fly back-and-forth from Florida to the Bahamas, making multiple supply deliveries."

Disaster relief products from the organization were airlifted into the Bahamas immediately after the hurricane and the group is in the process of scheduling shipments of aid to partners in the Bahamas and the Carolinas, the organization said.

An assessment team will take relief items including medical supplies, personal care products, micro-nutrient supplements, laundry supplies, cookware and food service supplies.

The Connor Group owns and operates luxury apartments in 14 cities around the nation, but it also runs a non-profit initiative called Kids and Community Partners, which invests in and partners with community programs that help disadvantaged children.

The Connor Group also supported post-Hurricane Maria relief and evacuation efforts in Puerto Rico in 2017 and airlifted medical supplies to earthquake victims in Haiti in 2010, the organization said.

"We understand we have a unique opportunity to help people," Connor Group Partner Larry Connor said in the group's statement. "As a company we have a set of core values that dictate everything we do. And the two at the top of the list are 'do the right thing' and 'people count.'"
