Court Issues Order Regarding Evergreen Health, Inc.

BALTIMORE, Aug. 2 -- The Maryland Insurance Administration issued the following news release:
On July 31, 2017, Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer, Jr. petitioned the Circuit Court for Baltimore City for an order to rehabilitate Evergreen Health, Inc. with the company's consent. Judge Yolanda Tanner signed the Order of Rehabilitation by Consent (Court Order).
The Court Order formally places Evergreen Health, Inc. (Evergreen) into receivership and appoints Risk & Regulatory Consulting, LLC as the receiver. The receiver will take possession of Evergreen and, under the general supervision of the Court, will administer the company pursuant to the Court Order and in accordance with Maryland law.
On July 25, 2017 Commissioner Redmer issued an Administrative Order prohibiting Evergreen Health from making any disbursement, payment or transfer of assets, or issuing or renewing any insurance policies, without the prior approval of the Commissioner. Evergreen currently provides health insurance to approximately 25,000 Maryland residents. Policyholders should continue to pay their premiums to ensure coverage remains in force.
