Centene Seeks To Expand Health Insurance Marketplace Coverage In 10 States

Aug. 13--Clayton-based Centene Corp. plans to expand its offerings in the 2020 health insurance marketplace in 10 states.

Centene said Tuesday it plans to expand in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Washington. The company said it has started the process for seeking all necessary regulatory approvals for the expansion.

Centene served 1.9 million exchange members in 20 states as of June 30. Of those members, over 90% are eligible for subsidies, the company said.

"Centene takes pride in being the country's largest provider of health insurance marketplace plans," chairman, CEO and president Michael Neidorff said in a statement. "The need for affordable, high-quality healthcare has never been more urgent, and we will continue to demonstrate disciplined execution, agility and capacity to successfully navigate industry changes to the benefit of our members, customers and shareholders."
