BRIEF: Insurer Citizens replaces Palm Beach Co. board member

Aug. 01--Palm Beach County is losing a representative on the board of state-run Citizens Property Insurance Corp. as a replacement for Juan Cocuy was announced Tuesday.

Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis announced the appointment of John M. McKay of Bradenton to the board of Florida's second-largest property insurer after Cocuy's three-year term ended Monday.

Cocuy was 54 when he was appointed initially as an interim replacement in 2013 to the eight-member board while serving as managing shareholder of Cocuy, Burns & Co., a Wellington-based accounting, tax and business consulting firm.

McKay is president of The Riverside Real Estate Co., and he served in the Florida Senate from 1990 to 2002, taking the reins as Senate President from 2000 to 2002.
