Oct. 10--If you're trying to sort through your options for Medicare, a state program offers free help choosing your best option.
The Ohio Department of Insurance provides Medicare beneficiaries with free health insurance information and one-on-one counseling through a program called the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program.
You can call the program hotline at 1-800-686-1578. The program has hotline experts and trained volunteers to help consumers with Medicare, Medicare prescription drug coverage, Medicare Advantage options, Medicare supplement insurance, long-term care insurance, and other health insurance matters.
The program also has fact sheets online about what you need to know.
