BRIEF: Geary County building codes in need of updating
Daily Union, The (Junction City, KS)
March 28--Geary County Administrators are in need of updating building codes so the county can be up to date.
The building codes are for newer construction and can affect personal property.
"The biggest concern is that if we don't do it, we're out of compliance and it could hurt people's homeowners insurance," Commissioner Keith Ascher said.
A public hearing has been scheduled for April 3 at 3 p.m.
Defensive driving class scheduled for county employees
All county employees will be required to take a defensive driving class, conducted through the county's insurance company.
Two classes are scheduled for April, and individual employees can attend one of the two classes.
"Even if they drive their personal vehicle for county business, they need to take this class," Commissioner Charles Stimatze said.
The classes will allow the county to lower their insurance rates.
