Applied Rating Index Q1 2023 Released
Key findings for Q4 2022 include:
- Personal Auto: In Q1 2023, the Personal Auto premium rate change increased to 5.0% versus Q1 2022. The Personal Auto premium rate change decreased to -2.2% versus Q4 2022.
- Personal Property: In Q1 2023, the Personal Property premium rate change increased to 5.1% versus Q1 2022. Personal Property decreased to -0.1% versus Q4 2022.
- Provinces: Across Personal Auto, all provinces experienced an increased rate change year over year with
Alberta ,Ontario ,Quebec , and the Atlantic Provinces seeing 6.6%, 3.0%, 10.4%, and 7.5% respectively. Relative to Q4 2022, all provinces exceptQuebec experienced a decrease in rate change withAlberta ,Ontario , and the Atlantic Provinces seeing decreases in premium rates quarter over quarter to -0.7%, -2.5%, and -5.3% respectively.Quebec was flat quarter over quarterAcross Personal Property,
Alberta ,British Columbia ,Ontario , the Atlantic Provinces, andSaskatchewan &Manitoba all experienced increased rate change year over year to 5.1%, 6.9%, 5.1%, 8.2% and 5.2% respectively.Quebec experienced decreased rate change year over year to -0.5%.Alberta ,Quebec , andSaskatchewan andManitoba all saw decreases quarter over quarter of -2.7%, -3.2%, and -0.5% respectively.British Columbia and the Atlantic Provinces saw an increase to 4.0% and 1.6% relative to Q4 2022.Ontario was flat quarter over quarter.
