The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) today issued the following statement, attributed to its assistant vice president of state government relations Logan McFaddin, regarding Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' signing of COVID liability protection legislation (Senate Bill 72) into law.
"APCIA applauds Governor DeSantis for quickly signing important COVID liability protections for Florida businesses and health care providers into law.
"The Governor has shown tremendous leadership on this issue and has been a strong advocate on the need for legislation to protect Florida businesses and health care providers from frivolous COVID-related litigation. With the Governor's signing today, Florida joins many other states across the country that have implemented similar protections.
"APCIA also thanks Senate President Wilton Simpson, House Speaker Chris Sprowls, Senator Jeff Brandes, Representative Mike McClure, and Representative Colleen Burton for their leadership in bringing this legislation forward and shepherding it through the legislative process."
