American consumers increasingly worrying about the economy

NEW YORK — A recent survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York reveals that many Americans are increasingly concerned about the national economy. The Consumer Expectations Survey indicates that confidence in the U.S. job market is diminishing.
The survey also highlights that inflation is no longer easing, leading many to believe that greater economic challenges may arise in the coming year. Researchers note an increase in the number of consumers who fear they may struggle to make minimum debt payments. This concern has reached levels not seen since April 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
These findings are derived from responses collected from a rotating panel of 1,300 people.
