Wanted Corbin man arrested

Aug. 07--WHITLEY COUNTY -- A Whitley County man sought by law enforcement for more than a week -- who was considered "possibly armed and dangerous" -- now sits in the Whitley County Detention Center.

Justin Gerald Jaynes, 22, of Corbin, was being sought by both the Williamsburg Police Department and the Kentucky State Police.

KSP Trooper Tony Dingess arrested Jaynes early Wednesday -- he was booked into the detention center just before 3 a.m.

Jaynes faces several charges, including two counts of receiving stolen property valued at less than $10,000 -- one of those alleged thefts was a vehicle.

He also faces two counts of first-degree fleeing or evading police -- one count for evading on foot, the other for evading by vehicle.

He also faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid or assistance, first-degree criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking property valued at more than $500 but less than $10,000, failure to appear, and failure to maintain insurance.

He remains jailed on a $50,000 cash bond with an ankle bracelet requirement.

Jaynes had been last seen in the Pleasant View community of Whitley County on July 29 after he allegedly led Williamsburg Police on a high speed pursuit in a stolen vehicle -- then reportedly fled on foot.

Williamsburg Police and KSP troopers believe Jaynes is a suspect in several vehicle thefts in both Whitley County and in Knoxville, Tennessee.

No court date for Jaynes has yet been set.
