Vertafore Continues Commitment to Information Security Excellence with Promotion of Joshua Schmidt

Schmidt joined Vertafore in 2008 as director of Information Risk Management.

“Within the Information Risk Management group, we have aligned our policies with international data protection standards and continually strive to exceed compliance requirements across all applicable laws and regulations—not only for Vertafore as an entity but also for our customers,” said Schmidt. “In doing so, we engage in a wide range of activities such as employee awareness training, risk assessments, product threat modeling, secure code reviews, application vulnerability testing, and defense-in-depth and breadth practices so that customers can trust that we manage their data as securely as they themselves might.”

Schmidt has assisted many financial services companies in aligning their information risk management programs with regulatory requirements and international standards, including acting as Deutsche Bank’s data privacy officer for the Americas. Additionally, Schmidt has supported large online retailers and insurance carriers with integrating security into their software development practices.

He has also held security and data privacy leadership positions at consulting firms such as KPMG LLP and IOActive, Inc., and industry groups such as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, Information Systems Security Association, and the Washington Technology Industry Association.
