Union Mortgage Group Appoints James Carter, III as President and CEO

Union Mortgage Group said that it has hired James G. "JG" Carter, III as President and CEO.

"JG will lead our mortgage team as we redefine our business strategy to succeed in an ever changing mortgage market," said Jeffrey W. Farrar, Executive Vice President and Director of Wealth Management, Mortgage and Insurance. "We are excited to have such a seasoned and talented executive join our team."

According to a release from the Group, Carter, 55, has more than 30 years of experience in the mortgage industry starting with United Virginia Mortgage. He has a mortgage banking background in retail and correspondent lending, sales and operations, risk management, fraud prevention, and governance.

A member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, Carter is past Chairman of both the Association's Residential Loan Production Committee and The Wholesalers Subcommittee and previously served on the organization's Residential Board of Governors. He is on the board of Housing Virginia, a non-profit organization focused on affordable housing issues in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In addition, Carter is a past President of the Virginia Mortgage Lenders Association and former member of the Association's Board of Directors. He is a recipient of the Alex McCrone Award, recognizing distinguished service to the association. Carter also serves on the Mortgage Market Issues Committee of the American Bankers Association.
