Transcor Astra Group selects SymphonyTM, Amphora’s Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) Platform to Support Their Global Trading Operations

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Amphora, the foremost developer of global energy trading and risk management systems for the liquid hydrocarbons industry, announced today that Transcor Astra Group has selected Symphony, Amphora’s ETRM solution, as their global commodities and derivatives trading platform.

“We sought a system that would support our global trading, refining and logistics operations and enable our continued growth," said Darden Bateau, Chief Risk Officer for the Transcor Astra Group. "A significant increase in the volume of transactions, both physical and financial, has increased our need for a centralized database of trades, contracts, invoices and actionable information that is readily accessible to multiple departments in multiple locations. Our selection of Amphora’s Symphony marks the successful conclusion of an extensive multi-month evaluation process involving ten potential software providers and more than 900 functional requirements gathered from users in trading, logistics, risk, accounting and finance. Our selection criteria included functionality vs. requirements, underlying technology, reputation in the industry, total cost of ownership and performance during live demonstrations using actual Transcor Astra Group deals. Overall, we found that Symphony provided the greatest functional fit and value among the alternatives we considered."

John Beaty, President of Amphora Americas, added, “Transcor Astra Group’s selection of Symphony further reinforces our commitment to our clients to provide consistently accurate and reliable solutions as the leader in the ETRM solution space for liquid hydrocarbons. We are very pleased to be bringing them into the Amphora family.”

Symphony, Amphora’s flagship ETRM solution, is a fully integrated trading and risk management system designed to support the entire life cycle of all physical and financial transactions for oil and other energy commodities. With unmatched accuracy and the deepest level of P&L attribution possible, Symphony pinpoints the value of a position in real-time and precisely tracks the total risk position under any given set of transaction variables. Now in the third major release of its new architecture, Symphony features a highly intuitive, efficient and user-configurable interface; faster back-end performance; and substantially improved visualization capabilities.
