The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company and The American College Answer President Obama’s Call to Put More Veterans Back to Work

The newly created Penn Mutual Center for Veterans Affairs at The American College is offering 150 scholarships to members of the armed services interested in pursuing a career in financial services. The scholarships can be applied to any of the designation and degree programs available at The American College. 

The goal of the newly created Penn Mutual Center for Veterans Affairs is to help our military launch new careers in the financial services industry and, thereby, share in reducing the rate of unemployment rate among veterans. Veterans who served after the 9/11 terrorist attacks are experiencing an unemployment rate of 13.1 percent compared to 8.1 percent for non-veterans.

The Penn Mutual Center for Veterans Affairs will award scholarships to any military who served honorably in the armed forces and who otherwise meet The American College's criteria. Applications are available at http://www.theamericancollege.edu/PMCVA/. Students may begin study as early as this spring.

Ed Clemons is the Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company and serves on the Penn Mutual Veterans Affairs Center board. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, he served in the United States Army for 22 years. Russell Figueira is the Director of the Penn Mutual Center for Veterans Affairs at The American College. He is a former naval officer who served on board numerous destroyers and was the Executive Officer aboard the USS Wiltsie. He also holds the US Navy League's John Paul Jones Award for Inspirational Leadership.
