Swiss Re Moves Marine Activities to Singapore From Hong Kong
Iris Lai
Swiss Re has moved its marine reinsurance activities from Hong Kong to Singapore with the creation of Asian marine hub in the Lion City.
"The hub move is designed to increase synergies within the global marine unit and to maximize efficiency in its Asian organizational structure, while ensuring its Asian client base continues to have local access to key underwriters," said Swiss Re in a statement.
Swiss Re's Singapore-based marine underwriters Patrick Graf and Wilfrid Goh will be joined by Victor Enzler and Jordan Bi from Hong Kong.
The Singapore team will report to Zurich-based Mario Ciancarelli, who heads marine activities for Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Swiss Re's global marine center is based in London, headed by managing director Peter Sydenham.
Singapore is a marine hub for the Asian region, with many brokers having their operations in the city.
Swiss Reinsurance Co. Ltd. currently has a Best's Financial Strengthen Rating of A (Excellent).
