Swiss Re Appoints Two New Members to the Group Executive Committee

ZURICH, Oct. 19 -- Swiss Re issued the following news release:

Swiss Re's Board of Directors announces that Guido Furer, currently Head Chief Investment Office, is appointed as Group Chief Investment Officer of Swiss Re and Member of the Group Executive Committee, effective 1 November 2012. He succeeds David Blumer who has decided to leave the company. Additionally, John R. Dacey, Swiss Re's Head Group Strategy & Strategic Investments, is named as a new Member of the Group Executive Committee, effective 1 November 2012. In addition, John R. Dacey will also become Chairman of Swiss Re's Admin Re(TM) business.

Currently Head Chief Investment Office and Member of the Group Management Board, Guido Furer has been responsible for Swiss Re's global asset allocation, portfolio steering and portfolio analytics, as well as for the Reinsurance Business Unit's investments. In assuming the role of Group Chief Investment Officer, he will take on overall responsibility for managing all investments of the Swiss Re Group.

John R. Dacey joined Swiss Re in October 2012 as Head Group Strategy & Strategic Investments. Prior to Swiss Re, he was at AXA where he held the role of Group Vice-Chairman for Asia-Pacific as well as member of AXA's Group Executive Committee.

Guido Furer

Guido Furer is appointed to the Group Executive Committee as Group Chief Investment Officer with effect from 1 November 2012. Previously, he was Head CIO Office and a Member of the Group Management Board with responsibility for Global Asset Allocation, Portfolio Steering and Portfolio Analytics. In addition, he was Head Asset Management Reinsurance. Prior to these roles, he worked for Swiss Re Capital Partners from 2001and 2004 with responsibility for European strategic participations. Guido Furer joined Swiss Re in 1997 as a Managing Director in the New Markets Division focusing on Alternative Risk Transfer. Prior to Swiss Re, he worked for eight years in leading positions for Swiss Bank Corporation/O'Connor & Associates in option trading and structured capital market transactions in Chicago, New York, London and Zurich. Guido Furer was born in 1963 and is a Swiss citizen. He earned a Master in Economics and a PhD in Financial Risk Management from the University of Zurich and an Executive MBA from INSEAD.

John R. Dacey

John R. Dacey is appointed to the Group Executive Committee as Head Group Strategy & Strategic Investments, as well as Chairman of Admin Re(TM), with effect from 1 November 2012. He joined Swiss Re on 1 October 2012 from AXA where he was Group Vice-Chairman for Asia-Pacific as well as member of AXA's Group Executive Committee. He joined AXA in 2007 as Group Regional CEO for Japan and Asia-Pacific and member of the Board of AXA APH (Australia) as well as multiple operating businesses. Prior to joining AXA, he had been Chief Strategy Officer and Member of the Group Executive Board, Risk Committee and Investment Committee at Winterthur Insurance from 2005. From 2000 until 2004, he was Winterthur's Chief Financial Officer and a Member of both the Winterthur Group Executive Board and Credit Suisse's Risk Committee. He joined Winterthur Insurance in 1998 as Head of Corporate Development. John R. Dacey was born in 1960 and is a US citizen. He holds a master's degree in Public Policy from the Kennedy School at Harvard University (1984-1986) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the Washington University St Louis (1978-1982).
