Endowed scholarship created in Burchard’s name [Columbia Daily Tribune (MO)]

Bob Burchard, the Columbia College men's basketball coach and athletic director, learned yesterday that an endowed scholarship has been named in his honor. The announcement was made in a surprise ceremony at Boone County National Bank.
Five contributors made donations to endow the Bob Burchard Celebration of Excellence scholarship. The five lead gifts total $111,000, which is nearing the $125,000 goal. Gene Koepke, Greg Johnson, Web Bixby, Skip and Daisy Grossnickle and the Insurance Group, Kathi and L'Mont Betz and Boone County National Bank combined to donate the $111,000 to endow the scholarship.
Burchard is in his 25th year as Columbia College men's basketball coach and athletic director. He was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in March. He has compiled a record of 597-225 and led the Cougars to 16 NAIA Tournaments.
