Richard Sánchez, M.D., Named Chief Medical Officer of Molina Healthcare of Utah

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Molina Healthcare of Utah announced today that Richard Sánchez, M.D., has been named chief medical officer of its health plan, a subsidiary of Molina Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE: MOH). In his new role, Dr. Sánchez will be responsible for oversight of the medical management functions of the health plan, including utilization management, quality improvement, credentialing, pharmacy, and risk management activities.

Dr. Sánchez has over 20 years' experience in managed healthcare. His most recent position was Medical Director for Arizona IPA/Americhoice/UnitedHealthcare. Prior to that position, Dr. Sánchez was Chief Medical Officer of Molina Healthcare of California. As Chief Medical Officer at Molina Healthcare of CA, Dr. Sánchez was responsible for the Medical Affairs Department operations and medical management initiatives. He also worked as Chief Medical Officer at Mercy Care Plan (Schaller Anderson), Coventry Health Care, Humana and Blue Cross Blue Shield in New York City. After completing medical school at University of California at San Francisco, he completed pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. He then received a Masters Degree of Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley.

Molina Healthcare of Utah has approximately 78,000 members enrolled in its health plan and serves members throughout the entire state of Utah.
