DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Heather C. McMahon, 36, of Wysox, has also been charge by Towanda police with operating a vehicle while her license was suspended or revoked; careless driving; leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident without providing the necessary information; and failure to have the necessary insurance to operate a motor vehicle.

According to reports, McMahon's vehicle was stopped on April 26 by Patrolman Bryan Bellows after he observed it strike a light pole next to the Flying Cow Bakery. McMahon was eventually placed under arrest for DUI and transported to Memorial Hospital where she agreed to submit to a blood test. The test revealed that McMahon's blood alcohol content was .223 percent on the day of her arrest. McMahon has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on June 11.

Warren Francis Strohl, 45, of Ulster, has also been charged by state police with failure to stop for a stop sign; failure to use his turn signal; and careless driving.

According to reports, Strohl's vehicle was stopped on April 19 by state police Trooper Joshua Fisher, after Fisher observed it fail to stop for a stop sign or use its turn signal at Covered Bridge Road on U.S. Route 6 in Burlington Township. Strohl was eventually placed under arrest for DUI, and transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test revealed that Strohl's blood alcohol content was .170 percent on the day of his arrest.

Strohl has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on June 25.

David George Neuenschwander, 23, of Grand Prairie, Texas, has also been charged by state police with failure to signal for a turn; operating a vehicle without proper lights; and failure to wear his seatbelt.

Neuenschwander's vehicle was stopped on April 19 by state police Trooper Robert Edgerton, after the trooper observed it being operated in an erratic manner on U.S. Route 220 in Monroeton Borough. After being placed under arrest for DUI, Neuenschwander was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda, where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Neuenschwander's blood alcohol content was .225 percent on the day of his arrest.

Neuenschwander has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on June 25.

Tracy Scott Parkhurst, 26, of Stevensville, was also charged by state police with driving on the wrong side of the road; operating a vehicle at an unsafe speed; careless driving; and failure to wear his seatbelt.

Parkhurst's vehicle was involved in a one-vehicle crash on April 17 on state Route 1023 in Wysox Township. State police Trooper David Sweeney attempted to interview Parkhurst at the scene, but was unable to do so because of injuries Parkhurst had suffered from the crash. Parkhurst was taken via ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment. Based upon what Sweeney observed at the scene, in addition to interviews conducted at the hospital with both Sweeney and another person who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash, the trooper obtained Parkhurst's medical records via a search warrant to examine his blood results. The records indicated that Parkhurst's blood contained Benzodiazepine, a scheduled IV controlled substance, on the day of his arrest.

Parkhurst has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on June 10.

Woman faces forgery charge

A Mildred woman has been charged by state police with forgery in connection with the theft of several thousand dollars from a local business.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, Alicia Mae Pedro, 35, has also been charged with three counts of theft by unlawful taking. Pedro has been accused by state police of stealing $2,700 from C&P Trucking LLC by forging another person's name on a company check, and cashing it at a local bank. Pedro is also accused of stealing other money by overwriting checks at various times for C&P Trucking. All of the incidents occurred in 2013, according to reports. Pedro is accused of stealing a total $8,178 from C&P Trucking in that time period.

Pedro has been sent a summons to appear before Judge Wheaton on June 17.

Man charged with heroin possession

A Towanda man was arrested by state police recently on various charges related to the possession of heroin.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Richard Alfred Johnson, 29, has been charged by Towanda police with possession of a controlled substance (heroin); possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of a controlled substance (Oxycodone).

Johnson was arrested by Towanda police Officer Bryan Bellows, after receiving information of suspicious activity involving a parked vehicle at Memorial Park. When Bellows and other officers arrived at the scene, according to the reports, they found Johnson along with several other people. During the investigation, Bellows discovered Johnson was in possession of several packets of a white substance that later tested positive as heroin.

Johnson was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $15,000 bail. Johnson's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 21 before Judge Clark.

Woman accused of theft

A Wysox woman has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark to answer a charge of theft by deception.

According to information filed at Clark's office, Donna Anderson, 37, has also been charged with disorderly conduct. Anderson is accused of selling hundreds of aluminum cans to Towanda Iron and Sheet Metal in July 2013 many of which contained a large number of plastic hypodermic needles. The needles, according to the report, increased the weight of the cans, allowing Anderson to obtain a higher price from Towanda Iron and Sheet Metal.

Anderson is scheduled to appear before Judge Clark on June 18.
