Philadelphia Insurance Raises $375,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities®

PR Web

Bala Cynwyd, PA (PRWEB) November 28, 2012

Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY), a leading property/casualty and professional liability insurance company for niche markets, announced today that it has raised over $375,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities through its 50th anniversary PHLYCares campaign. As a leading provider of insurance coverage for non-profit organizations, the Company decided to celebrate its 50th anniversary milestone by embracing PHLY’s history and culture of giving back through health and wellness.

“This has been PHLY’s most ambitious and successful fundraiser ever. I’m immensely proud of all of our employees who selected Ronald McDonald House Charities to support for our 50th anniversary,” said Chairman and CEO Jamie Maguire. “TEAMPHLY was clearly inspired by the remarkable work of the Charity and the Ronald McDonald House program and passionately responded by raising money and volunteering to help children and families in communities across the country.”

The company set a goal for 2012 to raise $250,000 and contribute 500 volunteer hours to the charity. To reach its goal, employees from each of PHLY’s 45 offices volunteered and raised money for their local RMHC Chapters throughout the year. The company matched every employee dollar raised with a $1.50 contribution. The $375,000 raised by PHLY represents roughly one-third of the total raised in 2012 through RMHC’s Group Giving programs. Over 60 local Ronald McDonald House Chapters will receive funds from the PHLYCares campaign (for a full list of Chapters, go here). 331 PHLY employees volunteered over 550 hours with their local Ronald McDonald House chapters throughout the year.

“Without the financial and volunteer support from Philadelphia Insurance Companies and their network of employees, fewer families would be able to be by their child’s side as they endure sometimes painful, but lifesaving medical treatments,” said Marty Coyne, president and CEO, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc. “Research has shown that children served by RMHC programs actually heal faster and cope better when their family is by their side, providing them support, strength, and the hugs and kisses they need to get well again. Programs like the Ronald McDonald House provide stability and resources for children and their families so they can start to put the pieces back together. The dedication and support of Philadelphia Insurance Companies is absolutely invaluable.”

Philadelphia Insurance Companies’ history dates back to 1962 when its founder, James J. Maguire Sr., formed Maguire Insurance Agency and provided affordable insurance coverage to the deaf community. PHLY has embraced these values to help an underserved community and grown into one of the leading providers of insurance to the non-profit and human services industry. The Company has donated more than $10 million dollars to charitable organizations since 1980. Its commercial lines insurance subsidiaries are rated “A++” (Superior) by A.M. Best Company and “A+” for counterparty credit and financial strength by Standard & Poor’s.

RMHC is a non-profit corporation aimed at creating, finding, and supporting programs that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children. Each year, RMHC serves more than 4.5 million families around the world.
