Munn steps down from Nebraska's top regulator post

Nebraska Director of Banking and Finance John Munn, 66, has retired. Gov. Dave Heineman named Deputy Director Ray Pont as acting director. Munn's last day on the job was May 2.

Munn was appointed by Gov. Mike Johanns in January, 2005. At the time of his appointment, Munn was president and CEO of First National Bank and Trust of Syracuse, Neb. From 1983 to 2001, he was senior vice president and director of Cornerstone Bank, N.A., York, Neb.

Pont has served twice previously as acting director. Pont joined the Department of Banking and Finance in 1986. Prior to joining the agency, Pont was a commissioned bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and worked in the financial services industry.

Pont has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business Administration, and has a Master's of Business Administration degree from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. *

* Cathy Haukedahl has been hired by Beacon Bank, Shorewood, Minn., as senior vice president and relationship development officer/team leader. Haukedahl has served as a vice president, a branch manager and a relationship officer during her 25-year banking career in the Twin Cities.

Brett Kinney and Stacey Johnson have joined Beacon Bank as vice presidents of business banking in the bank's Duluth, Minn., office.

Kinney has a degree in business administration and management from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Johnson has worked in banking in Duluth and Superior for eight years. She is a graduate of RMA's Commercial Lending Academy.

* Jon Fumich has been named vice president of business development at Frandsen Financial Corporation, Arden Hills, Minn. Fumich began work March 31 and will focus his business development efforts in the eastern half of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, and west central Wisconsin.

Most recently, Fumich was a business banking relationship manager with Wells Fargo. Fumich studied accounting at Marquette University, Milwaukee.

* Mark Jensen has been promoted to ag/commercial lender at First Security Bank & Trust, Charles City, Iowa. Jensen joined First Security in the fall of 2013 as a credit analyst with more than 20 years of business experience.

* Tracey Pierce has been named chief financial officer and senior vice president at the Bank of Wisconsin Dells. Pierce has 18 years of banking experience and joins Bank of Wisconsin Dells from Farmers and Merchants Bank, Tomah, Wis., where she also served as CFO.

Pierce fills the position left vacant by former senior vice president and CFO Larry Gehrke who retired on April 9 after 14 years with the bank.

Pierce has a Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems from St. Nobert College, De Pere, Wis., and a Bachelor of Business degree in accounting from Viterbo University, La Crosse, Wis.
