Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island Selects TCS Healthcare Technologies to Provide Medical Management Software Solution
Acuity Advanced Care™ System Will Support Next Generation of Enhancements to Health Plan’s Operations.
Providence, Rhode Island and Auburn, CA - December 10, 2007 - Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island (Neighborhood), ranked the No. 1 Medicaid Health Plan in 2006 by U.S. News and World Report, and TCS Healthcare Technologies, an industry leader in the development of medical management software applications, announced today that Neighborhood has selected TCS’s acuity advanced care™, (ACUITY) to support the health plan’s next generation of care management services.
“After reviewing a myriad of different software vendors and their respective applications, we decided that TCS’s ACUITY was the only medical management software solution that was both robust and flexible enough to meet Neighborhood’s clinical and business needs,” remarked Mack Johnston, MD, Neighborhood’s Chief Medical Officer. He added further “ACUITY will assume a central role in supporting and enhancing Neighborhood’s medical management, quality and wellness programs as we continue to serve special need populations in Rhode Island.”
Neighborhood was founded in 1993 by Rhode Island’s community health centers to serve people enrolling in the state's RIte Care Medicaid managed care program, which started in 1994. RIte Care offers health insurance for people with low incomes, primarily young families. The $174-million HMO provides coverage to nearly 75,000 enrollees and has been ranked as one of the top three Medicaid Plans in America since 2005 based upon the annual surveys published by U.S. News and World Report and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Neighborhood also has consistently earned NCQA Health Plan “Excellent” accreditation.
“TCS Healthcare Technologies looks forward to forming a synergistic working relationship with Neighborhood as the health plan continues offering its ‘best in class’ services to Medicaid beneficiaries,” notes Rob Pock, TCS Healthcare Technologies CEO and Founder. He added that “A primary goal is to help Neighborhood optimize its care management programs by using ACUITY' s cutting-edge and dynamic applications.”
Since 1983, Pock has supervised the expansion of TCS’s suite of care management solutions that now support companies that provide care to an estimated 4 million Americans. ACUITY integrates best practice resources as developed by the Case Management Society of America (CMSA), national medical societies and other groups to further promote evidence-based assessments, including applications that meet NCQA and URAC’s reporting requirements.
Michelle Lupoli, RN, MS, CCM, Director of Medical Management at Neighborhood, elaborates that “TCS Healthcare Technologies’ ACUITY was the number one choice of the entire medical management selection team to support Neighborhood’s full array of medical management programs covering CM, DM, UR, Quality and Wellness. The selection team liked ACUITY ’s comprehensive, user friendly and easy to navigate software system. Among other attributes, we were impressed with how customized treatment care plans are generated within the system based on templates and health risk assessment tools that automatically link patient problems with specific goals, goals with interventions, and interventions with outcomes.”
Lupoli observed further “Since many administrative and clinical tasks are automated through ACUITY , Neighborhood’s nurses will be able to spend more direct time with plan members.”
