Main Street America Reports Promoting 4 Officers to AVP, Appoints 2 New Company Officers [Professional Services Close – Up]

The Main Street America Group has promoted four company officers to the level of assistant vice president - Chris Cox, Deb Jansen, Lisa Murman and Ron Profaizer. Additionally, the super-regional property/casualty insurance company has elected two new company officers - Nancy Palmisano and Michele Seymour.

According to a release, both have been appointed as an assistant secretary of Main Street America.

"Chris, Deb, Lisa, Ron, Nancy and Michele exemplify the qualities which have helped The Main Street America Group sustain profitable growth and consistently outperform the property/casualty industry. All six of them exemplify the strong leadership qualities that drive our company's success in a challenging marketplace," said Tom Van Berkel, Main Street America's chairman and chief executive officer.

Van Berkel added, "Their leadership helped us achieve excellent results in 2012 which included net income of $56.7 million, (an 80 percent increase over the prior year), net written premium of $978 million, return on equity of 11.9 percent and surplus growth of $71 million to $847 million."

Chris Cox leads Main Street America's distribution management function. He is responsible for executing agency management best practices and the company's agency compensation program in its four regions, each of which reported improved performance in 2012 over prior year levels.

Cox joined Main Street America in 2008 as a personal lines product manager, overseeing the company's Great Lakes Casualty Insurance Company personal lines business in Michigan. In 2010, Cox joined its field operations unit as director, distribution management. He was appointed as an assistant secretary of Main Street America in 2011 and is based at the company's corporate office in Jacksonville, Fla.

Deb Jansen heads Main Street America's organizational development and training function. Her responsibilities include the development and delivery of the company's organizational design, organizational development, leadership development systems and training programs which enhance the company's capabilities. In addition, Jansen spearheads Main Street America's change management practices.

Jansen joined Main Street America in 2001 as director, organizational development and training. She led this function before taking on a new assignment in 2005 as the human resources consultant for the company's claims operations in Auburn, Mass., as well as several departments in its Keene, N.H., office including claims, finance and law. In 2007, Jansen returned to her original role leading organizational development and training. Jansen was appointed as an assistant secretary of Main Street America in 2003 and is based at the company's corporate office in Jacksonville.

Lisa Murman is Main Street America's head of business technology. She is responsible for planning and developing underwriting and process automation solutions in line with the company's business strategy. Murman also oversees automation and system infrastructure integration of Main Street America's profit center products and processes that enhance its independent agent-customers' ease of doing business, as well as drive the organization's profitable growth and achieve expense objectives.

Murman joined Main Street America in 2002 as director of marketplace planning and development. Her other roles at the company have included director, product lines marketing; and director, commercial lines product and deployment. Murman moved into her current position in 2010. She was appointed as an assistant secretary of Main Street America in 2012 and is based at the company's corporate office in Jacksonville.

Ron Profaizer is responsible for managing all operational aspects of Main Street America's integrated customer solutions function which includes our customer service, policy processing and premium services units. Profaizer also oversees the MSA Service Center, which provides a variety of back office services to our independent agent-customers and their customers (insureds).

Profaizer joined Main Street America in 2008 as director of integrated customer solutions operations. He was appointed as an assistant secretary of Main Street America 2011 and is based at the company's Keene, N.H., office.

Nancy Palmisano heads Main Street America's state filings function. She is responsible for assuring the company is in compliance with applicable state regulatory requirements, particularly in connection with market conduct exams and other regulatory audits. Additionally, Palmisano oversees Main Street America's product filings in all states where we write business.

Palmisano joined Main Street America in 1994 as a customer service manager in its Information Systems and Services Corp. subsidiary. Her other roles at the company have included senior personal lines product analyst, lead personal lines product analyst, manager of state filings and compliance manager. Palmisano was promoted to her current position in 2009. She was inducted into the company's Circle of Excellence in 2004. Palmisano is based at the Main Street America's corporate office in Jacksonville.

Michele Seymour oversees Main Street America's compensation and benefits function. She is responsible for planning, directing and managing the analysis, development and implementation of our company's compensation, benefits and human resources information systems programs that are consistent with the organization's strategic business and human resources objectives. Additionally, Seymour oversees the administration of several departmental functions including payroll, compensation and benefits.

Seymour joined Main Street America in 2002 as manager, compensation and benefits. She held this role until being promoted to director, compensation and benefits, in 2012. Seymour was inducted into the company's Circle of Excellence in 2004. She is based at Main Street America's corporate office in Jacksonville.
