Hayes and TriMedx Unveil “Consumer Reports” of Healthcare Equipment

Lansdale, PA (PRWEB) May 26, 2011

Hayes, Inc., a leader in promoting better health outcomes through evidence, is proud to announce that its products and services have been added to an agreement with Premier Purchasing Partners LP, the group purchasing unit of the Premier healthcare alliance. The contract becomes effective June 1, 2011. Through a partnership with TriMedx, a subsidiary of Ascension Health, Hayes will offer the industry a portfolio of reports that includes the largest number of health technology assessments and comparative reviews coupled with real-time data reflecting the total cost of ownership of medical equipment and devices. Consulting services provide for the customization and application of these resources. With this alliance, Premier hospital members will be better equipped with unbiased, evidence-based information when evaluating the impact of new technologies on safety, patient outcomes, internal resources, and the return on investment.

“Hayes is excited to have the opportunity to work with Premier and its membership,” says Dr. Winifred S. Hayes, President and CEO of Hayes, Inc. “We are eager to support Premier hospitals in achieving their strategic goals with regard to the cost-effective acquisition and management of new and evolving medical technologies. Hospital executives will find that our reports, research support, and consulting services will reduce conflict over physician preference items, improve value analysis processes, and enhance clinical service line strategic planning, with enhanced clinical outcomes and ROIs the end result.”

The suite of joint solutions by Hayes and TriMedx will allow Premier hospitals to benefit from the combined expertise of both companies. Premier hospitals will have around-the-clock access to more than 1,000 comprehensive reports when making decisions about newly approved, disruptive, evolving, and/or investigational health technologies. In addition, critical operational and cost data will allow Premier hospitals to drive costs down through more informed decisions on capital equipment purchases, strategic equipment planning, equipment redeployment, industry benchmarking, and comparative efficiency, ultimately impacting a hospital’s bottom line. Hayes consultants will be available to provide Premier member hospitals with research-driven insights and support for hospital strategic initiatives in numerous areas, including operations optimization, clinical transformation, and comparative effectiveness reviews, to name a few.

“Hospitals are under tremendous financial constraints due to economic pressures and healthcare reform,” says Thomas Vorpahl, Chief Operating Officer for TriMedx, LLC. “Technology expenditures account for roughly 15-20 percent of a hospital’s annual spending and support the critical service lines that make a facility competitive. As hospitals must make every dollar count, our data enable informed decisions that drive wasteful costs out and ensure each dollar is invested properly.”

Hospitals will benefit from financial information that helps them to anticipate the costs associated with managing and maintaining new equipment beyond the purchase price. Members will benefit from knowing not only the initial investment required for capital purchases but what they can expect to spend over the lifetime of the equipment.
