Governor Sam Brownback Signs 16 Bills Into Law Wednesday

TOPEKA, Kan., April 17 -- Gov. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., issued the following news release:

On Wednesday, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback signed 16 bills into law. That brings the total number of bills signed by the Governor during the 2014 Legislative Session to 57.

* HB 2419 - Amendments to city annexation, fire district territory, and detachment agreements.

* HB 2420 - Allows designation of volunteer school crossing guards.

* HB 2447 - Establishes the duty of real property owners to trespassers.

* HB 2479 - Removes the 2015 sunset provision as to ignition interlock device after first test failure or alcohol or drug-related conviction.

* HB 2516 - Amendments to health care provider liability insurance law.

* HB 2577 - Allows parents to remain anonymous when surrendering an infant under the newborn protection act.

* HB 2636 - Amendments to the air quality act.

* HB 2724 - Uniform commercial driver's license act; definition of "tank vehicle."

* HB 2728 - Permits for the operation of salvage vehicles no longer required to be prepared in triplicate.

* Sen Sub HB 2065 - Relating to magistrate judge jurisdiction and appeals.

* Sen Sub HB 2101 - Amendments to the net metering and easy connection act.

* Sen Sub HB 2182 - Continuation of exemptions under the Kansas Open Records Act.

* Sen Sub HB 2197 -Membership of board of directors and executive board of the Kansas State High School Activities Association.

* Sen Sub HB 2378 - Provides a sales tax exemption for certain machinery and equipment used for surface mining activities.

* Sen Sub HB 2482 - Creates the energy efficiency investment act.

* Sub HB 2436 - Inspections of dual-licensed facilities by the boards of cosmetology and barbering.

By law, the Kansas governor has 10 calendar days to sign the bill into law, veto the bill or allow the bill to become law without his or her signature.
