The tool also enables providers to give their patients a user-friendly way to view their medical statements online and directly submit payments 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Patient Exchange automatically e-mails patients when they have a new statement, which reduces paper, printing and postage costs, as well as office staff time associated with mailing printed statements.
“Since using Gateway EDI’s Patient Exchange, we’ve received 37 percent of our payments outside of business hours,” said
Patient Exchange notifies providers as payments are received. In addition, it enables them to monitor usage of the tool and download reports to make the process of posting payments more streamlined.
The tool also easily integrates into Gateway EDI’s existing suite of work flow services, which include electronic and paper claims processing, management and reporting tools, as well as patient eligibility, electronic remittance advice and statement fulfillment services.
“For more than 20 years, Gateway EDI has helped providers reduce administrative inefficiencies and get paid quickly so they can focus on what’s most important to them. As the market has evolved, so have our services,” said
Additional Unique Features
Patient Exchange is different from other online patient payment portals in the market today. For example, Patient Exchange is one of the few services combining online statements and online bill paying into one convenient solution. At the same time, the tool is flexible enough to work with a provider’s existing practice management software, including their current patient statement system.
Also, the tool enables medical offices to select payment options and credit cards they will accept, the minimum dollar amount they will allow on credit card payments and the type of statements patients receive, whether it is electronic-only or an electronic and paper combination. Additional Patient Exchange features include:
• Detailed payment history, which patients can easily print for health savings accounts and tax purposes, reducing the number of calls and requests a medical office receives |
• High-level security that goes beyond HIPAA and PCI compliance to provide 128-bit encryption and a system that has proven its strength through an extensive security audit |
• Flexible online payment options, including credit cards, debit cards and checks |
• Customizable look and personalized web address to help providers with their own communication efforts |
• Marketing tools to help providers promote the service to patients through billing stuffers, office posters and promotional messages on current paper statements |
