Former Red Sox player Shea Hillenbrand to talk baseball business in Bangor

April 10--BANGOR, Maine -- Former Red Sox All-Star third baseman Shea Hillenbrand will talk baseball business in Bangor next week.

Hillenbrand and Paul Lancisi, owner of Shirley-based Dove Tail Bats, will speak at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 17, during an event at the Cross Insurance Center hosted by Mobilize Eastern Maine.

Hillenbrand played three seasons in a Red Sox uniform. In 2002, he was selected as the American League All-Star Team's starting third baseman. His career in the majors ended in 2007 after stints with the Angels, Dodgers, Giants, Blue Jays and Diamondbacks. He also made the All-Star Game in 2005.

Lancisi and Hillenbrand will talk about Dove Tail Bats' efforts in the international wooden baseball bat industry and the business side of America's pastime. Dove Tail Bats creates bats for players from Little League to the majors.

Hillenbrand also is scheduled to host a hitting clinic at Maine Hits in Scarborough on Saturday, April 19. A youth clinic for ages 8-12 will be held 10-11:30 a.m. Ages 13-16 will be 1-2:30 p.m. The cost is $30 per player. Private lessons also are available by calling 207-730-7227.
