CT Fertility Announces Expanded Social Responsibility Initiatives

Bridgeport, CT (PRWEB) August 30, 2011

Since it was founded in 1991 by Dr. Michael Doyle, Connecticut Fertility Associates (CT Fertility) has remained committed to supporting the dual goals of social entrepreneurship and corporate responsibility in addition to offering a comprehensive range of fertility treatments and programs. As it marks its 20th anniversary this fall, CT Fertility is expanding the range of its social responsibility initiatives as part of its mission to provide others with effective and compassionate support.

"Because CT Fertility understands that infertility can take a financial toll on prospective parents, many of our programs reflect our dedication to making fertility services more accessible for those who seek to begin their family-building journeys," said Dr. Doyle. "Our financial counselors are always available to discuss treatment costs and insurance benefits." To further help patients who demonstrate extreme financial need, starting this year these families can also apply to the new CT Fertility Lifelines initiative, which will donate a full set of fertility treatment services to as many as three families every year.

CT Fertility and its medical director already have a long history of donating funds, food, and toys to families and children in need. To forge an even stronger bond between the center and the larger community, the CT Fertility GivesBack initiative has been expanded to now pledge $100 to a family-centered charity for every baby conceived as a result of our 2011 fertility services. "Because CT Fertility plays a direct role in the birth of more than 400 babies every year," said Dr. Doyle, "we look forward to contribute over $10,000 to further the work of each of the three organizations we have already supported in the past: Right To Play International, Family Equality Council and Mapendo New Horizons."

"I am pleased and excited about establishing Mapendo New Horizons as one of the charities that Dr. Doyle and CT Fertility Associates will be donating to in a formal way," said Dr. Kigabo Mbazumutima, one of Mapendo's co-founders. "We thank Dr. Doyle for his continued support and faith in our mission to give help and hope to vulnerable survivors of physical, psychological, and social trauma in Africa by ensuring them easy access to health care, protection and security."

"We are honored to be supported in such a meaningful way by an organization that helped create so many of the families we represent," said Jennifer Chrisler, Frailly Equality's Council's executive director. "Family Equality Council is America’s foremost advocate for the one million LGBT parents raising two million children in the United States. We are working to ensure their full social and legal equality by building community, providing direct support to families and prospective parents, educating the American public, and securing inclusion in legislation."

For several years the clinic has also been running the CT Fertility Cares annual food and toy drive during its anniversary "Baby Party" reunions, benefiting the Connecticut Food Bank and Save the Children. This year CT Fertility added a dedicated "virtual food drive" website to encourage many of the thousands of program alumni who cannot attend the party to join the CT Fertility Cares initiative by contributing online. "Several of our previous annual food drives resulted in significant contributions in both food and funds, and we hope the 20th anniversary drive will set a new record," said Dr. Doyle.
