BRIEF: Series for Latinos to focus on business of farming

May 17--WENATCHEE -- The Center for Latino Farmers will sponsor a three-evening workshop here this month on how to manage the business side of a farm.

The Farm Risk Management Educational Series will run from 5:30 to 9 p.m.May 27-29 at the Wenatchee Community Center, 504 S. Chelan Ave.

Topics in the series will include the importance of good farm-business management, risk awareness, insurance, legalities of forming a farm business, corporations, warehouse contracts, purchasing, property rights, water rights, estate planning, food safety and more.

The series is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Beginning Farmers & Ranchers Program. The Yakima-based Center for Latino Farmers works to educate self-employed producers and farm workers with limited English skills.
