BRIEF: Hospital plans more parking, approves property insurance [The Daily Star-Journal, Warrensburg, Mo.]

Oct. 03--WARRENSBURG -- Western Missouri Medical Center trustees authorized up to $225,000 to add a parking lot and renewed an insurance plan.

The lot will serve patients, visitors and staff if the hospital proceeds with plans to construct a medical office building.

The lot on the southeast corner of the campus will create 45 spaces and allow patients and visitors to park nearer to the medical center.

Plant Services Director Mike Kaker said Kaw Valley Engineering is designing the lot and several contractors working on site are interested. He said he is working with JE Dunn to pre-qualify several other local contractors.

The board also voted to renew property insurance with Chubb for a premium of $89,533.

Agent Randy Russell said property values are up $20 million, but Chubb "held the line" on costs.

He said the marketplace for such insurance is shrinking, and the next closest bid came in $38,000 higher.
