ACC, Nile Seek Revival
May 24, 2010 (The Monitor/All Africa Global Media via COMTEX) -- Africa Cricket Club (ACC) and Nile will be looking to find quick solutions to their batting woes when they clash in a crucial National Cricket League tie at Lugogo oval today.
Nile were bundled out for a basketball score of 77 runs all out in their last fixture against Tornado B - a game they lost by 102 runs at Kyambogo.
And they will be looking to end talk that their batting line-up cannot hurt the weakest of bowling attacks without Roger Mukasa Galiwango who changed camps to Premier at the beginning of the season.
"We have been missing our top influential players in the last couple of games. Masaba (Brian), Dhindsa (Aman) and Badu (Bashir Ansasira) form a core of our team but they are now back and we looking forward to winning this game," reasoned opening batsman Martin Ondeko.
It is true our top order has been struggling. But they have to click. If the top five do their job, I am sure we can beat any team. We are ready to fight like a wounded lion," added Ondeko in a defiant tone.
Whereas Nile are in a rut, ACC are in a deeper hole with wins continuing to be elusive. Their batting is as fragile as they come and there is no place for them to hide. Twice they have floundered chasing gettable scores. After sharing spoils with Tornado B in a washout affair two weeks ago, ACC know that the game against Nile is their only way out to turn the corner.
"We have not been up to scratch and there is no excuse. We have a couple senior players and they must take responsibility. When you do things persistently, they become a habit and we don't want losing to become part of us, "said new-signing Hamza Almuzahim Saleh.
Glory-hunting Wanderers travel to Jinja to take on Rounders whereas Kampala Institute of Cricket Clubs (KICC) face off with Tornado at Kyambogo oval.
In Division II, two fixtures are on card with Castle Development taking on Patidar Samaj in Entebbe. Makerere University will also tussle it out with Warriors in Budo.
