American Income Life Insurance is aggressively growing its force of life insurance agents, according to company statements and news reports from several states.
The company, which sells life and supplemental health insurance to labor unions, credit unions, associations and middle-income families, grew its producing agent count to 5,176, up 18 percent from a year ago, according to its recent year-end financial statement. American Income Life is a 100 percent union-label company. It has continued to generate growth during the economic downturn.
American Income Life plans to add 10 new jobs as it expands at six Florida offices, The Orlando Business Journal reported this week. On average, agents can expect to earn $47,000 in annual commissions, according to the weekly business journal.
Matt Henderson, American Income Life state director for Florida, told the business journal that the bulk of the 100 jobs — 50 to 60 — will be in the Tampa and Altamonte Springs offices, and the rest will be split between Orlando, Brandon, Dundee and Jacksonville. Henderson also told the journal the company is planning new offices in Melbourne, Bradenton and Daytona Beach.
A similar article in the Dallas Morning News reported the company planned to add another 100 new sales agents and managers there, as well. Those positions will be based in Houston, Beaumont and Austin, the newspaper reported.
American Income Life “is actively recruiting veterans for leadership positions,” the company said in a Feb. 8 release, although it did not specify the types of positions it is seeking to fill.
Founded in 1951, American Income Life Insurance, a subsidiary of Torchmark, is licensed in 49 states, Canada and New Zealand, and through wholly-owned subsidiaries including National Income Life Insurance in New York and Union Heritage Life Assurance in Ireland.
