LifeMark Partners Elects New Chairman, Two New Board Members
BALTIMORE - May 7, 2014 – LifeMark Partners, one of the nation’s largest independent national insurance marketing organizations, today named Mark Rosen of Pittsburgh as new chairman of its board of directors. Rosen, a founding member of LifeMark, is president of Underwriters Brokerage Service in Pittsburgh.
LifeMark President Bill Shelow said Rosen, who has served on the board for eight years and has served in leadership capacity in several brokerage industry associations, brings “a wealth of leadership experience” to the chair.
Rosen replaces Malcolm Sklar who, after 12 years as chairman, was elected chairman emeritus. He will continue to serve the LifeMark board in a consultative role.
Shelow also announced two new LifeMark board members:
-- Sexias G. “Chad” Milner III, vice president of The Milner Group in Lawrenceville, Ga.; and
--William Conwell, president of Dixon Wells Inc. of Birmingham, Ala.
“We are extremely proud of the group of leaders that we have assembled to guide LifeMark,” Shelow said. “We know that our business will be changing, and we are confident that this board can lead that change,” he added.
Mark Rosen began his insurance career in 1978 at Security-Connecticut Life in Hartford, returning soon after to join the family business in Pittsburgh as a marketing associate. He is now president of that firm, Underwriting Brokerage Service, and guides the independent life and health brokerage agency’s day-to-day operations. Rosen is past director and chairman of the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA). He is a former member of the boards of the local chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, and he is an active member of both the Estate Planning Council and the International Association for Financial Planners.
Malcolm Sklar began his career in insurance in 1973 with Phoenix Mutual Life and later joined Life Plans Unlimited, one of the first general agents with Security Connecticut Life. By 1987, he was president of Life Plans and a member of the original Security Connecticut Advisory Council. A founding member of LifeMark Partners, Sklar is president of Fairfield, CT-based GBS Insurance and Financial Services, the insurance and employee benefits division of Arthur J. Gallagher, which acquired Life Plans Unlimited in 2002.
Sexias G. Milner III, known as “Chad,” is the fourth generation of his family in the business. He has been vice president of the Senior Markets Division of The Milner Group since 2001. Two years ago, he founded North American Senior Benefits, currently the leading independent marketing organization in the final expense marketplace. An expert in annuity product design, Milner received NAIFA-Atlanta’s Top Advisors Under 40 Award in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
William Conwell, entered the life insurance business in 1979 as an agent with State Life of Indiana and, in 1982, became the brokerage manager for the Transamerica branch in Birmingham, Ala. In 1988, two years after the branch became a general agent, he became its owner. Conwell joined LifeMark in 2004, merging with Charlotte, N.C.-based Grice Financial in 2009 to form Dixon Wells, which he now heads as president. He served 10 years on the board of the local NAIFA chapter as public service chairman and is a member of the local Financial Planning Association (FPA) chapter.
