PARIS, Aug. 21 -- XL Group, an insurance and reinsurance company, issued the following news release:
XL Catlin's insurance operations in France today announced the appointment of Mathieu de Roquemaurel as Client and Distribution Leader, France and Facilities Practice Leader, effective September 1st.
Based in XL Catlin's Lyon office, Mr. de Roquemaurel will be responsible for maintaining and building XL Catlin's relationship with brokers and clients in southern France. In addition, working closely with the French leadership team and the global Facilities team, he will be charged with developing facilities partnerships with brokers across the country.
Commenting on the appointment, Bruno Laval, Regional Manager, France & Southern Europe - Insurance at XL Catlin, said: "In the last year, we have significantly invested in our Client and Distribution team based in Paris to further drive our engagement with our partners and brokers. It is now time to look beyond Paris and connect with local brokers and clients where they need us. With the south-eastern part of France representing a quarter of the country's GDP according to INSEE's latest figures, having a distribution expert based in Lyon where we already have Property and Casualty underwriters will allow us to better support our client's ambitions locally."
Francois-Xavier d'Huart, Head of Client & Broker Management for France, added: "Mathieu will not only help connect the dots between our underwriters and regional brokers, but will also look at how we can best make our solutions available to companies we are not today reaching, notably through focused partnerships with brokers, in areas where our specialist approach can make a real difference. I have no doubt that Mathieu will be successful in this role -he has an impressive track record assessing, improving and leading distribution strategies."
Mathieu de Roquemaurel joins XL Catlin from AXA France in Paris where he has held since 2010 a number of strategic roles in audit, focusing on distribution channels, and most recently as a broker management expert. He previously worked for KPMG in Marseille. Mr. de Roquemaurel holds a Master's Degree in Internal Audit from the IAE of Aix-en-Provence.
