Wilmington, DE Police Department to implement NC4 Street Smart™ in their real-time Crime Center

PR Newswire

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Feb. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- NC4, a leader in revolutionizing safety and security and an innovator in public safety and emergency management solutions, has been chosen by the Wilmington, Delaware Police Department (WPD) to provide the NC4 Street Smart™ solution to bring together all of Wilmington's computer systems and help make their real-time Crime Center a reality. The Center will be used to monitor surveillance video and police actions and will allow the WPD to aggregate real-time data, information and resources from many different sources, putting the city at the cutting edge of crisis response.

"NC4 Street Smart will be a huge benefit to our officers in the field, providing them with information on real-time crime information as well as historical details on various investigations," said Wilmington Police Chief Bobby Cummings. "This software will be instrumental in allowing our real-time Crime Center and our officers in the field to quickly and efficiently operate."

The City of Wilmington is the largest and most culturally and economically diverse city in Delaware.  The ability of the city to grow and improve the lives of its residents depends on its ability to effectively provide public safety. The Wilmington Police Department has an authorized strength of 320 sworn personnel to cover Wilmington's 10.9 square miles with a population of approximately 71,000 residents. NC4 Street Smart is the cornerstone of the real-time Crime Center and the solution used to distribute critical information from analysts to the field. Additionally, officers in the field will be feeding intelligence and crime data back to the Crime Center, providing instant communications. With the use of this solution, the new Crime Center will help the department's officers improve communication and speed up information sharing creating a focused and efficient response to crime. This in turn will help improve the safety of all residents and visitors to the city of Wilmington. The NC4 Street Smart solution is the same solution being used in New Castle County's J. William Bell Fusion Center where federal, state and local agencies have access to the most modern technology to fight crime, respond to emergencies and improve residents' quality of life. Wilmington and New Castle County Police will share information between the two systems.

NC4 Street Smart organizes all of an organization's information and delivers it in a simple interface for frontline officers. A quick search of a subjects name crawls all of the organization's data – from traditional sources like CAD and RMS to electronic station log books, bulletins, offender lists and other structured data sources. In addition to structured sources, NC4 Street Smart brings collaborative crowdsourcing tools, such as blogs, that allow officers to naturally communicate with one another within the department via laptops, mobile data terminals (MDTs) and Microsoft Windows phone devices. Data can be updated in real-time instead of waiting for traditional reporting, allowing real-time crime fighting to keep residents safe.

"We are excited that the Wilmington Police Department will utilize NC4 Street Smart in its Crime Center," said Rob Wolf, Vice President, NC4 Public Safety. "This software will allow police officers to share information quickly and in real-time, helping the officers to fight crime. NC4 Street Smart enables an intelligence-led model of policing that arms the officers with all the data the organization has on offenders that may pose a danger to the community and the officers."

NC4 will be showcasing NC4 Street Smart at the 2016 LEIM (Law Enforcement Information Management) Conference from May 23 – 25 in Dallas, TX. Stop by Booth #204 to learn about NC4 Street Smart's successes and the reasons that others have selected NC4 solutions.
