Willis Towers Watson Hires Matt Houghton to Deepen Insurance Strategy Consulting Presence in Asia Pacific

HONG KONG, May 9 -- Willis Towers Watson, an advisory, broking and solutions company, issued the following news release:

Willis Towers Watson (NASDAQ: WLTW), the leading global advisory, broking and solutions company, today announced the appointment of Matt Houghton as Senior Consultant of Strategy in its insurance consulting and software business in Asia Pacific.

Following the recent appointment of Kevin Angelini as Head of Strategy, the addition of Matt to the Strategy team further boosts capabilities to offer broader consulting services relating to strategic initiatives facing the insurance sector such as strategy setting, corporate development and M&A, among others.

Starting on 21 March 2017, in this newly created role, Matt's focus is to provide consulting to the insurance industry regarding strategic development, distribution and M&A. With 15 years of insurance sector experience, Matt brings extensive Asia experience and expertise in M&A origination, execution and implementation; new market entries; distribution; partnerships; joint ventures; and business planning. Based in Hong Kong, he reports to Kevin Angelini.

Before joining Willis Towers Watson, Matt was Head of Strategic Transformation at AmMetLife Insurance, a joint venture in Malaysia between MetLife and AmBank Group that was established after MetLife acquired 50% of AMBank Group's insurance company.

Prior to this, Matt was Assistant Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at MetLife Asia from July 2011 to July 2015, and was part of the team that worked on the acquisition of AmLife. He has also worked on market entry to Vietnam, as well as other strategy and M&A activities throughout Asia Pacific.

Matt has held actuarial roles with AXA in Hong Kong, and with Aviva, Ernst & Young, and HSBC in the UK. Matt holds a Master's degree in Mathematics from University of Exeter. He is also a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries of the United Kingdom.
