Willis Towers Watson Hires David Maneval to Lead P&C Insurance Consulting Practice Across South Asia

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

HONG KONG, Aug. 30 -- Willis Towers Watson, an advisory, broking and solutions company, issued the following news release:

Willis Towers Watson (NASDAQ: WLTW), the leading global advisory, broking and solutions company, today announced the appointment of David Maneval as South Asia Property and Casualty (P&C) Sales and Practice Leader for its insurance consulting and software business in South Asia.

David's appointment further strengthens and broadens the company's insurance consulting capabilities to align with changing client needs and market demand across the Asia region. It follows other key appointments, such as Mei-Chee Shum as Greater China Life Sales and Practice Leader and Kevin Angelini as Head of Strategy for Asia Pacific, earlier this year.

Based in Singapore, David started in this newly created role on 20 July 2017 and reports to Ken Brown, Head of South Asia and Emerging Markets for Willis Towers Watson's insurance consulting and software business. David joins more than 250 insurance-focused consultants and specialists in nine Asia Pacific markets, part of a bigger Willis Towers Watson workforce of 7,000 colleagues located across 15 countries in Asia.

In his new role, David is responsible for leading and developing the non-life insurance consulting practice across South Asia, covering countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. His focus is to provide consulting to the insurance industry regarding financial and regulatory reporting, market strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and risk management.

David brings more than fifteen years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors to the position, following roles that have included pricing, reserving, catastrophe modelling, reinsurance optimisation, rating agencies, capital modelling and capital management.

"I am very pleased to have David join our senior leadership team. The vast client, geographical, cultural and regulatory differences across South Asia are creating new opportunities for us to meet our clients' diverse needs and challenges," said Ken Brown. "We believe David's deep sector knowledge, expertise and innovative thinking will help us tap those opportunities and bring real benefits to our clients."

"The insurance sector in Asia is facing multiple challenges, such as low interest rates and low yields, changing business and risk management processes, uncertainty over regulatory change, and digital transformation," commented Richard Collis, Managing Director for Willis Towers Watson's insurance consulting and software business in Asia Pacific. "At the same time, advances in areas such as computer processing and storage capability - especially cloud - along with the growth in software-as-a-service and InsurTech are seeing businesses constantly push the envelope to improve competitiveness and the overall user experience."

Commenting further, Mr. Collis said: "These challenges have put greater pressure on global and Asian insurers while creating opportunities for new players. Yet, at the same time, the market in Asia continues to grow. We offer a very strong combination of advisory services to insurers, integrated with technology solutions and market-leading software with unmatched analytics. With new senior appointments like David's, we're strengthening our depth of talent to support this and ensure we deliver successful outcomes for our clients."

Willis Towers Watson's global insurance consulting and software business services 97 of the top 100 global insurers and has been involved in many of the major Asian insurance IPOs. More than 950 companies around the world use Willis Towers Watson insurance software solutions.

Before joining Willis Towers Watson, David held a number of senior positions in Singapore and the United Kingdom, including Chief Reinsurance Officer Asia Pacific for AIG in Singapore and Head of Actuarial Asia for Aon Benfield.

David holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics with distinction and is a Fellow of the French Institute of Actuaries.
