WellCare Names Andrew Clifton Medicare Executive Director

TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG) announced today that it has named Andrew Clifton Medicare Executive Director of Connecticut, Maine and North Carolina effective Aug. 11. Clifton will have responsibility for overall plan operations, including strategic direction and the effective development of new programs in all three markets. He will also direct provider contracting and relations, sales and marketing, medical management and regulatory compliance. Clifton will report to Mike Polen, executive vice president, Medicare and operations.

Clifton joined WellCare in 2015 as senior director, strategic initiatives. He most recently served as the chief operating officer for WellCare's Texas and Louisiana markets. He has also held leadership roles at KPMG, specializing in health insurance operations and strategy.

Clifton holds a master's degree in business administration from Rice University and a bachelor's degree in economics from Saint Louis University.

As of June 30, 2017, WellCare serves 78,000 Medicare Prescription Drug Plan members in Connecticut, Maine and North Carolina and 12,000 Medicare Advantage members in Connecticut and Maine.
