The order now requires immigrant families be detained together after they're caught entering the country illegally, and to be held together for the duration of the parents' criminal proceedings. This is a potential violation of a court settlement reached years ago and may set up a potential fight in the courts.
In addition, the order would prioritize parents with children to the "front of the line" for immigration proceedings but does not eliminate the administration's goal to prosecute everyone who crosses into the country illegally, which is also known as the "zero-tolerance" policy
But critics say it does little to help the more than 2,000 kids already separated from their parents. These children are seemingly lost as they go through the separation process. Questions still remain as to how long and where the families will be detained.

"It is my hope that recent actions taken by the president will in fact end the separation of immigrant parents and children at the border," Flores said. "However, we will have many questions about how this executive order will actually be applied. So we must continue to assess the situation on the ground. Some things might be changing, somethings might not, so let us proceed realistically but hopefully."
Flores said there are children in detention centers weeping for their parents, who sit in detention on misdemeanor charges desperate to know their children's whereabouts.
The bishop further described the separated immigrants as an impoverished people embarking on a perilous trek to escape violence and the threat of death in same cases.
"We gather tonight for a simple vigil and prayer," Flores said. "We pray first for the children and for their parents, that they might find some light of hope in their lives tonight. That they quickly be reunited and that the damage done by separation soon be healed."
